thirty-four: Warm showers. Ahhh... enough said.

thirty-five: My mistakes. No matter what, they will always help me improve & become a better person.

thirty-six: Cameras. I love being able to capture the special moments in life.

uppppppp-date

So I feel like I've been slackin' on here! Sorry :( This weekend was a really relaxing one. I sorta feel like this guy:

Friday night we decided to go for a traditional date night, dinner & a movie. We went to Winger's for dinner and saw Cars 2 in 3D afterwards. I liked the first one better but hubs really liked this one (I think it was because it was his very first 3D movie and he was amazed.)
I kept hearing "babe this is so cool" and "did you see that??" pretty much the whole movie, haha. Afterwards we came home and played this new Pop Culture Scene It game we got from D.I. last weekend. It was pretty fun....but we were so tired we started to get loopy, so we went to bed.
Chris played golf with the Elders Quorum this morning, he won "best drive." I went shopping in Idaho Falls while he was playing. I couponed at Target, spent around $17.00 and came out with a lot of stuff, along with a $5.00 gift card. I could really get the hang of saving all this money, it's pretty awesome. We cleaned up our kitchen, made lunch, took stuff to D.I. and watched some TV. I cut and colored hubby's hair and now we're just chillin', its nice.

Tomorrow is Sunday, which means another relaxing day. We have church, an ice cream social afterwards & friends coming over for dinner tomorrow night. Spaghetti it is, yumm. Ta-ta for now!

Whats Cookin' Wednesdays; Chicken Roll-Ups

Now now now...I don't have a picture for this delicious recipe because I got it from my mama...(haha get it... like the song?) Anyways, try it! You will love it!

Chicken Roll Ups
Serves: about 4

Ingredients:
-3 or 4 chicken breasts
-1 1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
-bread crumbs
-1 pkg crescent rolls
-8 oz. cream cheese
-1/4 c margarine (melted)
-1 can cream of chicken soup
-1/2 can milk

1) Bake chicken in oven. Bake with a little water for about 25 min or until no longer pink.
2) Cut up chicken, or shread it. Either works.
3) Add cream cheese, chicken & worcestershire sauce together. Mix well.
4) Spoon mixture into flattened crescent rolls. Roll up.
5) Roll into melted butter & place on cooking sheet
6) Sprinkle with breadcrumbs
7) Bake at 350 for 20-30 min & top with gravy!

For gravy:
1) Cook cream of chicken soup and 1/2 can of milk in a pot. Stir frequently until no longer lumpy.

yum yum yum....can't wait for dinner!!

Oh so thankful Tuesdays...6/21

twenty-seven: Tithing. I've always known that paying tithing lead to many blessings, but I haven't had an experience of my own due to it. This week was different, Chris went to two back-to-back temple sessions on Saturday and we paid a little extra tithing on Sunday. Today Chris found out that he got a scholarship, we are so excited!

twenty-eight: Mail-in rebates & Catalina coupons. I'm pretty sure you know what a mail-in rebate is, but Catalina coupons are the coupons that print out of the machines next to the register at stores. Today I had another couponing trip (see picture below) and got two Catalina coupons for free milk & a $5.00 mail-in rebate, making what I bought, free. Who doesn't love free?

twenty-nine: SUNSHINE! Rexburg has finally seen Summer. Well, we all hope so. It's a beautiful sunny day & about 81 degrees today. It's nice to look outside the window and see light instead of dark clouds and rain.

thirty: Service. The hubs & I are ward missionaries and last night we had our first activity with the ward. We had a service auction. There were 4 different tables set up where ward members could go to play games, donate food, & give missionary referrals to win monopoly money. Our table was Latter-Day Prophet Jeopardy, it was a hit. After money was collected we got together and bid on services that were to be performed by ward members. There were some really good ones (6 homemade loaves of bread, half a dozen caramel apples, free haircuts, free babysitting...etc.) Chris & I got "will teach/help you to change your car oil" & "will make free dessert for two love birds"....I guess we qualify :) It was a lot of fun.

thirty-one: Video chatting. I love being able to not only talk to my family, but to see them whenever I want. Don't get me wrong, it would be a TON better in person.... but we have to take what we can get.

Your turn....

**I thought I should post about this too, because it makes me SO EXCITED.**
I had another couponing trip today.... & I got all of this:
for $28.52. I saved $48.81 :)

Saturday is a special day!

Two posts in one day...I'm on a roll! Chris and I were randomly driving around today after getting a snow cone, taco bell & depositing a check. Earlier, Chris was doing homework but we noticed a lot of planes flying around by our apartment complex. (We live across the street from the "airport", I put that in quotes because the airport is so small, I don't even think it should be considered an airport.) They were so loud flying over us that we could hardly hear each other talk. Chris thought this was great! He kept begging me to go outside to look at the airplanes. He put his computer down and peeked out the window, "Babe, it's a Harvard!" A minute later, "look, there's a Extra 300S," and "Oh my gosh... it's a Corsair!!" Chris quickly got his homework done and excitedly went outside. We drove by because we wanted to watch the planes and we found out they were having a little airshow. For all of you who don't know, Chris is a lover of airplanes, we couldn't pass it up & we managed to get some pretty cool pictures. Funny thing, the professor who Chris was doing homework for for that morning was there too. In the picture below, he's standing on the right side with his son who went to the Netherlands on his mission and spoke dutch.
My hubby is so strong :)

This plane is so big they have to fold the wings so it could fit inside the hanger.
This was an acrobatic airplane that just landed. He offered Chris for a flight for $200. I had to pull Chris back.
These helicopters were giving people tours of Rexburg for only $25. Great Deal! But when we got there all the spots for the day were take up.
Chris figured that if he could fix it, he could keep it.

There is something missing here and I just can't quite figure out what it is...
My new ride :)
Chris say's, "It's my birthday coming up... how much is this?"
When you have a world to save, you can only trust DURACELL haha.
I said it was a Bi-plane. but no, he wants to BUY plane.
I'll take it!

Afterwards we went to DI. Hubby got a couple t-shirts and a frame for his diploma. We picked up a set of playing cards and the game "Scene It: Pop Culture." Hopefully we get a chance to play it with some friends :)

We got a kitchen table on Monday from some people in our ward. It's a really nice table and I am so thankful for it! Now we don't have to eat at the couch every night. Anyways, I wasn't a huge fan of the fabric that was on the chairs & they needed a bit more cushion so I decided to recover them. We went to Walmart today to get fabric and padding then I went to work.

They look great! I can't wait to get the desk out of our kitchen so we have room for the table. That's next on my list :)

Our weekend

Yesterday was my turn to plan date night, & well...I didn't post yesterday because I honestly had no clue what to do. My mind was drawing a date-night-blank. Luckily...Chris came to the rescue! We ended up eating dinner at home. We had yummy Chicken Alfredo. It was even better because I didn't have to make it. (Am I the only one who thinks that way?)

Then we went to "Comic Frenzy," a comedy show on the campus. It's a lot like Who's Line Is It Anyway, they play games and have audience participation. It was REALLY funny.

Afterwards we walked around for a bit and went to a part of the campus where they have individual piano rooms and of course, Chris played for me. He's a stud when it comes to playing the piano, it gets me every time. After I was sweetly serenaded we came back home & went to sleep. Our whole date night was $4. I don't think it can get any better than that.

Today's Saturday and Chris had to wake up super early. The Elders Quorum had a "temple offering" this morning. They went to the temple this morning at 6:00am and did two back to back endowment sessions. The first session they was completely packed full, they had to add extra chairs and had about 15 people that had to wait for the next session. He told me it was a great experience. Oh yea, & he also got asked to teach the lesson tomorrow ;D Its on tithing though--no biggie.

Overall, its been a great weekend. HOPEFULLY we do something extra fun today :)

the bestest wife

Hi there. Chris here. This is not an everyday thing. Though I’m somewhat part of this blog, it’s really my wife who takes care of this blog. But I wanted to share a lil something with you today. I have a very blessed life. I’ve been married for a little over 2 months now and life could not be better. For all those who are contemplating marriage, thinking about it, or not sure if it’s your “thing,” take a leap of faith and go for it. But if you do go for it, don't dip your feet in but jump all the way in. I was one of those guys who thought I’d never get married. Furthermore, I wasn’t even sure I did want to get married. I had other dreams. I wanted to travel, watch the Rugby World Cup LIVE in New Zealand towards the end of this year. These would be the highlights of my life but Alyssa is now my life. I can enjoy the company of having her around plus watch rugby and golf… togetherJ. Sure, I dated around here and there but as soon as Alyssa and I started talking and getting to know each other, it clicked.
So far I have rambled upon random information. What I’m trying to say is that I’m so lucky to have her. She is smart, funny and adorable… the list goes on. I work long hours while Alyssa stays at home. I know this is hard for her but she endures it well. She doesn’t hesitate to try new things like cooking, decorating and making our apartment into a home. She’s unselfish in her endeavors. She turns lemons into lemonade.  Like I said, I’m blessed. I’m blessed because I have her in my life. This is the reason why I love her. She’s perfect.

Whats Cookin' Wednesdays; Chicken Wraps

So if you've ever been to Sonic (which...I'm really hoping you have because it is amazingly delicious), they have these super yummy grilled chicken wraps that I am in love with. Well, there's a sonic here in Idaho...but its about 30 minutes away & with it being so far away....being able to go to sonic is a treat, not an everyday thing (what am I saying, it was never an everyday thing...). Anyways, about a month ago I decided to try and make these at home for dinner. It worked out, so we're having them tonight!

"Sonic" Chicken Wraps
Serves: how ever many you want ;)

Ingredients:
-Chicken. I use chicken tenderloins because they're easier to cut up and they cook a lot faster.
-Lettuce
-Tomatoes (optional. I'm not a tomato girl.)
-Ranch
-Tortillas

1) Cook the chicken. I'm sure its better grilled, (because that's how sonic does it) but we don't have a grill so I improvise. I usually melt some butter in a pan (you can do oil instead), season the chicken and cook it on medium-high until its no longer pink.
2) Once the chicken is done, cut it into strips or bite size squares.
3) Place the chicken, lettuce, tomatoes & ranch all in the tortilla.
4) Wrap it....& enjoy.

They're actually really good & really easy to make. You should try it :)

Oh so thankful Tuesdays...6/14

It's that time again. I don't understand how the weeks go by so slow but it always seems like Tuesday's come fast, hmmm.

twenty-one: Our Kitchen Table. Woo hoo! FINALLY. Now we don't have to eat dinner on our couch all the time!!

twenty-two: Coupons...once again. Except this time, I mean it! I went on my first "couponing" trip yesterday  & I got a bunch of stuff for only $17.74 (see last post) oooooooh & I saved $45.00! GO ME!

twenty-three: Movies. I love being able to pop one in and cuddle with my hubby :) It's a good time for us to spend time together.

twenty-four: BYU-I. Because it is bringing my sister & I together again in September. For those who don't know, Jessica got accepted & will be starting here in the fall! September needs to come faster! We are going to have so much fun!!

twenty-five: Our vacuum. That thing was pretty cheap & it works like a charm. I'm just so thankful I don't have to go around on my hands and knees picking up things.

**I'm feelin' extra thankful today, so how bout another one??**

twenty-six: Blog friends. Thanks to you guys, I have something to entertain me during these long days while Chris is busy. Oh yea, & my bestest friend Mindy now has a blog, welcome to blog world Mind!

Your turn :)

June 13, 2011

Dun dun dun.....

I just have to share....because, I'm so proud!!

My friend Shannon is in the process of teaching me how to coupon, so I had my first "couponing" trip today. I got all this
 for $17.74!!!
oh, and I saved $45.00!

I love this!!

June 11, 2011

Today is NATIONAL....

Get out doors day. Betcha didn't know that, did you? Yea, well neither did we. Some friends from our ward, Micah & Shannon invited us to go to Mesa Falls with them. Its about 45 min from Rexburg. We all packed up a pic-nic and went today. When we got there, there were no fees because....

Woo! Didn't we luck out?? Mesa Falls is this HUGE beautiful waterfall that flows through the whole place. That white thing over to the left of the picture is a huge block of snow.

On the way back we stopped to take a look at some horses.

It was a super fun day!

The Gardens

On the BYU-I campus they have a place called "The Gardens." The Horticulture department builds, plants & constructs a new project every year. Well to me, this was a hidden treasure. Chris knew about this place but hadn't been in years. We checked it out yesterday & took a couple pictures.

Do you see the hidden face?

It was actually a really fun place to go. Really relaxing, beautiful & really close to our house. This was our date for the night. We checked out the local farmers market before, then afterwards we got some teriyaki  chicken & rice, came home and watched What Happens In Vegas. Fun night :) Very relaxing & super cheap!
